Raised Garden Beds or Elevated Garden Beds
In this article we will help you figure out which style of garden bed is right for, Raised or Elevated. Both are effective and some of our customers actually mix and match the two together. However there are some distinct differences between the two with each having advantages.
Raised Garden Beds - These gardens are perfect for the home gardener that has ample space to place the boxes side by side with space between. The 4x8 kits lined up make a beautiful garden with plenty of room to grow any and everything you can think of. The biggest advantage of raised beds is the ability to have a larger garden within the smallest footprint possible. However a distinct downside is you have to bend, squat, or otherwise to reach the level of your garden. This is fine if you have no issues with mobility, your knees are good and you have a back that can handle bending over.
Elevated Garden Beds - We created these beds for one particular reason - to help a family member that lost their mobility due to cancer treatments. If your biggest garden challenge is sore knees, bad backs, animal issues, then an elevated garden bed is your choice. These beds put your garden at waist height, eliminate issues with sore knees from bending as well as a sore back. As an added bonus, with your garden up on legs, small animals like rabbits, moles, and other small critters will not use your garden as their own person buffet line.
These are just a few ideas to use when trying to figure out which garden style to choose to get your garden started at home. If you have questions or need advice, feel free to contact us. We are always here to help with your needs and questions.
